Fancy doing something with the kids? That’s no problem in Düsseldorf either. There is a huge choice of child-friendly excursions and a few of the destinations are pretty unique as well. There are also a number of leisure parks in the surrounding area.
You’ll find the Wildpark Grafenberg game reserve in the forest above the city. Nestling in 40 hectares of grounds in the middle of a 200-year-old beech forest, more than one hundred animals live in spacious enclosures. They include species such as red deer, foxes, wild cats and mouflon sheep. Some of them roam the reserve freely, so children can feed the deer and maybe even get to stroke them. And by the way, a visit to this picturesque game reserve is free of charge.
Visitors can admire marine flora and fauna at Aquazoo. Some 560 animal species are on show in aquariums, terrariums and a tropical hall in an area of 6,800 square metres. The biggest funfair on the Rhine takes place every year in July. The many rides are sure to bring a smile to children’s faces. For the rest of the year, the nearby Phantasialand and Moviepark amusement parks and the Neuss Ski Hall are open.
